Boeing 737-8 MAX, was registered as HL8348 with Korean Air, the South Korean flag carrier; individual manufacturer serial numbers for current-production MAX 8 deliveries are assigned sequentially from Boeing's Renton line but not consistently published for each tail. As part of Korean Air's growing MAX 8 fleet, HL8348 supports domestic Korean routes and short-haul regional connections across Northeast Asia, complementing the carrier's substantial widebody long-haul operations as one of Asia's leading airlines. Korean Air's 2024 acquisition of a majority stake in rival Asiana Airlines created one of the largest airline combinations in Asian aviation history, and the carrier's continued MAX 8 deliveries reflect its ongoing narrowbody fleet renewal even as it works through the lengthy process of integrating Asiana's operations and route network.

The Boeing 737 MAX is an American narrow-body aircraft series being developed by Boeing Commercial Airplanes as the fourth generation of the Boeing 737, succeeding the Boeing 737 Next Generation. The first flight was on January 29, 2016. The 737 MAX is based on earlier 737 designs but re-engined with more efficient CFM International LEAP-1B along with aerodynamic improvements, most notably split-tip winglets, and airframe modifications.
