Airbus A330-303, registered PH-AKE, flies for KLM Royal Dutch Airlines as part of the Dutch flag carrier's substantial A330-300 fleet supporting long-haul international routes from Amsterdam Schiphol. As part of KLM's PH-AK registration block alongside sister aircraft including PH-AKA, PH-AKB, and PH-AKF, PH-AKE supports the carrier's medium-capacity long-haul network connecting the Netherlands to destinations across the Americas, Africa, and Asia, complementing KLM's larger 777 and 787 widebody fleets on routes with different demand profiles, as KLM continues to be one of the world's oldest continuously operating airlines under its original name and branding.
Please note: An optional display stand is available separately if you wish to display this model "in-flight".
Designed as a wide-bodied, long-haul passenger transport to compete with the Boeing 767, the A330 was first flown on November 2nd, 1992. It was designed as a lengthened version of the A300 and was developed in parallel with the larger, four-engined A340, enabling many of the components to be shared between the three types. The A330 also uses the same fly-by-wire technology that was introduced with the A320, featuring a glass cockpit and side-stick controllers. The A330 has the same range and payload capacity as a DC-10 with 25% greater fuel efficiency. © Copyright 2003-2026 The Flying Mule, Inc.
