Airbus A319-115, registered C-GKZC, flew for Canada 3000, the Canadian leisure and charter carrier, as part of the airline's narrowbody fleet supporting shorter charter and scheduled routes across Canada and to nearby U.S. and Caribbean destinations. Canada 3000's rapid expansion during the late 1990s, including its 2001 acquisition of rival Royal Airlines and Canadian Airlines' former charter operations, ultimately overextended the carrier's finances, contributing to its dramatic collapse just months later following the September 11 attacks and the resulting sharp drop in transatlantic and vacation air travel demand.
