Airbus A320-211, registered C-FDQQ, flew for Air Canada as part of the carrier's original fleet of A320s, among the earliest Airbus narrowbody aircraft introduced to Air Canada's domestic and short-haul international network beginning in the late 1980s. Air Canada's early adoption of the A320 marked the beginning of a long-standing relationship with Airbus narrowbody aircraft that has continued through subsequent generations, including the carrier's substantial recent orders for the Airbus A220 and A321XLR, cementing Airbus's position as Air Canada's primary narrowbody manufacturer for well over three decades.

Please note: An optional display stand is available separately if you wish to display this model "in-flight".

Airbus A320

Designed as a short/medium range narrow-body airliner to compete with the Boeing 737, the Airbus A320 was first flown on February 22nd, 1987. The A320 features side stick controllers and glass cockpit and was the world's first airliner to use use a digital fly-by-wire control system. Controversially, the software includes "flight envelope protection" to prevent the pilot from exceeding safe flight parameters. The highly successful design rapidly led to the development of the shortened-fuselage A318 and A319, and lengthened-fuselage A321 derivatives. More than 4,500 of the A320 family have been produced, almost all of which are still in active service.
