Boeing 707-320C, registered EI-ASO, flew for Arkia Israeli Airlines as part of the carrier's fleet of convertible passenger/cargo 707s supporting Arkia's expansion beyond its original domestic Israeli network into longer-range charter and international operations. Arkia, founded in 1949 as Israel Inland Airlines, gradually expanded its route ambitions over the following decades from purely domestic service between Tel Aviv and Eilat toward broader regional and eventually international charter operations, with aircraft like EI-ASO supporting this gradual widening of the carrier's scope beyond its original domestic mandate.

Designed as the first American turbine-engined airliner, the 707 was first flown on July 15th, 1954.
