Boeing 707-338C, registered A20-261, flew for the Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF) as part of the military's fleet of 707s used for long-range transport and VIP duties supporting Australian defense and government requirements. The RAAF's 707 fleet, primarily inherited from Qantas as the airline retired its own 707s during the 1970s and 1980s, provided Australia with strategic long-range airlift capability for decades, supporting troop movements, humanitarian missions, and government travel across the Asia-Pacific region and beyond before the type's eventual replacement by the Boeing KC-30A Multi Role Tanker Transport in the 2000s.

Designed as the first American turbine-engined airliner, the 707 was first flown on July 15th, 1954.
