Curtiss C-46 Commando, tail number 1701, flew for the Israeli Air Force (IDF/AF) as part of 106 Squadron, formed in December 1948 with five C-46 Commandos, which played a crucial role in Operation Fact in March 1949, airlifting troops and supplies to the makeshift airfield at Sde Avraham north of Eilat. When 106 Squadron was disbanded in May 1949, its C-46s and crews transferred to 103 Squadron, and the aircraft eventually passed to Arkia Airlines as Israel's fledgling military transport capability transitioned into supporting the country's growing civilian aviation sector.

Please note: An optional display stand is available separately if you wish to display this model "in-flight".

Curtiss C-46 Commando

Designed as a twin-engine transport comparable to the Douglas C-47, the C-46 was first flown on March 26th, 1940.
