Boeing 767-2Q4, registered PT-TAA, was TransBrasil's first Boeing 767, delivered in 1983 as the launch aircraft for the type in Brazil and displayed at the Paris Air Show at Le Bourget that same year, making TransBrasil only the second Southern Hemisphere operator of the 767 after Ansett Australia. Painted with a blue tail per TransBrasil's tradition of assigning each aircraft its own color, PT-TAA served the airline for its entire operational life on domestic and international routes before TransBrasil's December 2001 collapse left it abandoned at Brasilia Airport for over two decades until its 2023 removal.

Designed as a wide-bodied, twin-engined airliner to fill the niche between the narrow-bodied 707 and wide-bodied 747, the 767 was first flown on September 26th, 1981. Developed in tandem with the narrow-bodied 757 twinjet, both aircraft share a common digital cockpit layout and are operated by a two man flight crew. Thanks to a proven reliability track-record, the 767 is approved for extended twin engine operations (ETOPS) making it a popular choice for airlines flying transatlantic routes.
