Boeing 727-2H3, registered TF-VLS, flew for Tunis Air, Tunisia's flag carrier, as part of the airline's fleet of 727 trijets supporting domestic Tunisian and regional Mediterranean routes connecting Tunis to Europe, the Middle East, and North Africa. Tunis Air, established in 1948, built its early jet-age network around the reliable 727 during a formative period for Tunisian civil aviation following the country's 1956 independence from France, supporting the growing tourism industry along Tunisia's Mediterranean coast.
