McDonnell Douglas DC-10-30, manufacturer serial number 46931, named "Endeavour," first flew under the Douglas test registration N53647 in December 1973 before being delivered to Pakistan International Airlines as AP-AXC in March 1974, and was later registered N832LA with Laker Airways as part of Sir Freddie Laker's pioneering low-cost transatlantic "Skytrain" service launched in 1972. Laker's revolutionary no-reservation, low-fare model briefly transformed transatlantic travel before the airline's dramatic February 1982 bankruptcy, a collapse often attributed to predatory pricing by larger competitors threatened by Laker's disruptive business model.
