McDonnell Douglas DC-10-30, construction number 46849, was delivered to Laker Airways as G-BGXG in 1977. The aircraft operated on the airline's ambitious low-cost transatlantic routes, including London Gatwick to Miami and other U.S. destinations, under the Skytrain brand. G-BGXG featured a high-density configuration to maximize passenger capacity and was painted in Laker's distinctive white and blue livery with Skytrain markings. Financial difficulties forced Laker Airways to cease operations in 1982, and G-BGXG was subsequently sold to other operators. The aircraft represents a notable chapter in low-cost long-haul aviation history and Laker's pioneering efforts in transatlantic budget travel.
