Sud Aviation Caravelle, registered 7T-VAL, flew for Air Algerie, Algeria's flag carrier, as part of the airline's early fleet of French-built jets supporting domestic Algerian and regional Mediterranean routes, alongside sister aircraft 7T-VAK. Air Algerie's early Caravelle fleet represented an important modernization step for Algerian civil aviation following the country's 1962 independence, connecting Algiers to other Algerian cities and to destinations across the Mediterranean and Western Europe during a formative period for the newly independent nation.
