Douglas DC-8-61, serial number 45962, entered service with Air Canada as C-GMXB. The aircraft later operated with Air France Cargo following conversion to freighter configuration, transporting cargo on international routes across Europe and North America. The stretched DC-8-61 provided increased payload capacity compared with earlier variants. Powered by Pratt and Whitney JT3D turbofan engines, the aircraft offered reliable long haul performance. C-GMXB supported cargo operations during the transition period before newer widebody freighters became dominant.
