Boeing 727-217, registered C-GCPA, flew for CP Air (Canadian Pacific Air Lines) as part of the Canadian carrier's fleet of 727 trijets supporting domestic Canadian and short-haul international routes. CP Air, Canada's second major international airline alongside Air Canada, built its narrowbody network around the 727 before the carrier's 1987 merger with Pacific Western Airlines and Eastern Provincial Airways to form the unified Canadian Airlines International.
