Boeing 727-251, serial number 21215, entered service with Frontier Airlines as N7278F. The aircraft joined Frontier's narrowbody fleet in the 1970s and operated domestic routes across the United States. Configured with first class and economy seating, the 727-200 provided increased passenger capacity and improved range compared with earlier versions of the aircraft. Powered by three Pratt and Whitney JT8D engines, the trijet offered reliable performance and strong takeoff capability from airports at higher elevations. N7278F supported Frontier Airlines' expanding domestic network.
