McDonnell Douglas DC-8-63F, registered N815CK, flew for American International Airways, the brand name used by what later became Kalitta Air between 1985 and 2000. Founded by drag racer and businessman Connie Kalitta in 1967, the carrier specialized in scheduled and chartered cargo flights and ran significant cargo contracts for the U.S. Department of Defense during Operation Desert Storm from its Ypsilanti, Michigan base, with much of its 1990s fleet consisting of aging four-engine DC-8 freighters like N815CK acquired secondhand from major airlines worldwide.

Please note: An optional display stand is available separately if you wish to display this model "in-flight".

Douglas DC-8-63F

Designed to compete with the Boeing 707, the DC-8 was first flown on May 30th, 1958.
