Boeing 727-200F, registered N268FE, flew for Federal Express as part of the Memphis-based carrier's large fleet of 727 freighters. FedEx operated the 727 for 35 years, taking its first aircraft in 1978 with early acquisitions coming from other airlines before it began buying new aircraft from Boeing, and it accepted the very last 727 ever built, line number 1832, in 1984. After the fleet was retired, N268FE was preserved at Buffalo, New York, where it is held by the Niagara Frontier Transportation Authority, one of many retired FedEx 727s placed with fire departments, colleges, and training facilities across the United States.
