Boeing 727-225, serial number 21507, entered service with Eastern Air Lines as N8877Z. The aircraft joined Eastern's fleet of Boeing 727 aircraft operating domestic and regional routes across the United States. Configured with first class and economy seating, the 727-200 offered increased passenger capacity and reliable performance for medium haul flights. Powered by Pratt and Whitney JT8D engines, the aircraft became one of the most widely used jetliners in U.S. domestic aviation. N8877Z supported Eastern's operations for many years before the airline's closure.
