Sud Aviation Caravelle, registered PH-TRO, flew for Transavia Airlines, the Dutch leisure carrier, as part of the airline's early fleet of French-built jets supporting charter routes connecting the Netherlands to Mediterranean holiday destinations. Transavia, founded in 1965 and later becoming a KLM subsidiary, built its identity around affordable leisure travel using the Caravelle during its early decades before the airline's fleet modernization toward Boeing 737 aircraft in subsequent years.
