McDonnell Douglas DC-8-63, registered OY-SBK, flew for Sterling Airways, the Danish charter carrier, as part of the airline's fleet of stretched DC-8s supporting long-haul charter routes connecting Scandinavia to holiday destinations across the Mediterranean and beyond. Sterling Airways, founded in 1962, built a substantial charter operation using the DC-8's long range and capacity before the original airline's 1993 bankruptcy, with the Sterling name later revived by different owners for subsequent low-cost carrier ventures in Scandinavia.
Please note: An optional display stand is available separately if you wish to display this model "in-flight".
Designed to compete with the Boeing 707, the DC-8 was first flown on May 30th, 1958. © Copyright 2003-2026 The Flying Mule, Inc.
