Boeing 707-436, registered G-APFP, was delivered to BOAC on December 22, 1960, and survived a dramatic incident around 1973 when an engine turbine disc failed during a ground run at London Heathrow, starting a fire that burned through the wing. The repair was so extensive that Boeing presented BOAC engineering with a framed certificate recognizing the technically complex wing rebuild. The aircraft reportedly ended its days as a museum piece, donated through Boeing to the Franklin Institute in Philadelphia, where it sat in British Airways colors, having arrived by road with wings and tail removed, until it was scrapped around 1989 during a museum expansion.
Please note: An optional display stand is available separately if you wish to display this model "in-flight".
