Boeing 727-25, serial number 18385, entered service with Northeast Airlines as N1648. The aircraft joined Northeast's fleet during the airline's transition to jet service and operated routes throughout the northeastern United States and Florida. Configured with first class and economy seating, the 727-100 provided efficient medium haul service and excellent short runway performance. Powered by three Pratt & Whitney JT8D engines, N1648 continued flying after Northeast merged with Delta Air Lines in 1972.
