Boeing 727-200F, serial number 21853, entered service with UPS Airlines as N207UP. The aircraft joined UPS' rapidly expanding air freight fleet and operated overnight package services throughout the United States and international markets. Configured exclusively for cargo, the 727 featured a large main deck freight door and reinforced floor for containerized and palletized shipments. Powered by three Pratt & Whitney JT8D turbofan engines, N207UP provided dependable short and medium haul performance and helped UPS develop the extensive air transportation network that became central to its express package delivery system.
