Boeing 727-247 Advanced, serial number 21106, entered service with Western Airlines as N2818W. The aircraft joined Western's narrowbody fleet and operated domestic routes throughout the western United States, Mexico, Hawaii, and other destinations within the airline's expanding network. Configured with first class and economy seating, the 727-200 Advanced offered increased capacity and range compared with the original 727. Powered by three Pratt & Whitney JT8D engines, N2818W provided reliable service with Western before becoming part of Delta Air Lines' fleet following the merger of the two carriers in 1987.
