McDonnell Douglas DC-10-10F, manufacturer serial number 48287, registered N306FE and named "John Peter Jr.," was the FedEx aircraft targeted in the April 7, 1994, Federal Express Flight 705 hijacking, when disgruntled flight engineer Auburn Calloway boarded armed with hammers and a speargun intending to crash the plane and stage his death for a life insurance payout. The flight crew, despite severe injuries, used extreme evasive maneuvers to subdue Calloway and land safely at Memphis. Remarkably, the repaired aircraft continued flying for FedEx for another 28 years, upgraded to MD-10 standard in 2008, before its retirement on December 31, 2022, prompting an enthusiast campaign to preserve it.
