Boeing 707-437, registered VT-DJK, flew for Air India as part of the flag carrier's early fleet of 707s supporting long-haul international routes connecting India to Europe, the Middle East, and beyond during the 1960s. Air India was among the pioneering Asian operators of the 707, using the type to establish the airline's reputation for luxury long-haul service under the leadership of J.R.D. Tata, helping cement Air India's identity as one of Asia's premier international carriers during the early jet age.

Designed as the first American turbine-engined airliner, the 707 was first flown on July 15th, 1954.
