The 2nd Battalion, 14th Marines was activated on March 26, 1943 and on August 19, 1943 was assigned to the 4th Marine Division. On February 19, 1945 the 4th and 5th Marine Divisions landed on Iwo Jima with the task of taking Mt. Suribachi. They also were to capture the southern airfields and the west coast. The island was officially declared secure on March 16, 1945 but the last battle took place with 300 Japanese on March 25, 1945. In October 1945 the 2/14th was temporarily deactivated.

Willys Jeep w/Trailer

Designed to meet a US Department of War requirement for a light, cross-country reconnaissance vehicle, the Willys MB Army Jeep was manufactured between 1941 and 1945. The Willys Jeep was the original version of what would later become one of the most iconic vehicles in American history, evolving into a popular civilian vehicle that is still being produced today. The Willys Jeep was a compact, four-wheel drive vehicle that rapidly became one of the most prolific vehicles of WWII. More than 640,000 standardized versions were produced, with 8,690 other versions built over a period of four years.
