Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner, serial number 41989, line number 133, registered N789FT and designated ZB002 during Boeing's 787-9 development program. The aircraft was the second 787-9 flight-test airframe and was extensively instrumented for certification testing, including operations in strong winds at Keflavik. After completing Boeing test duties, the aircraft was refurbished and delivered to Air New Zealand in 2015 as ZK-NZD. It subsequently entered normal passenger service, giving this historically significant airframe a second career after helping Boeing certify the stretched 787-9 variant.
Designed as a mid-sized, wide-body airliner and constructed out of mostly composite material, the 787 was first flown on December 15th, 2009. © Copyright 2003-2026 The Flying Mule, Inc.
