Airbus A330-343, serial number 539, entered service with Cathay Pacific as B-HLU. The aircraft joined the airline's regional widebody fleet in the late 1990s and operates medium haul routes from Hong Kong to destinations across Asia and the Middle East. Configured with business class and economy seating, it provides a comfortable cabin experience supported by modern inflight entertainment systems. Powered by Rolls Royce Trent 700 engines, the A330-300 offers strong reliability, efficient fuel consumption, and excellent performance on high frequency regional services. B-HLU has served as an important part of Cathay Pacific's widebody fleet, supporting the airline's extensive regional network from its Hong Kong hub.
Designed as a wide-bodied, long-haul passenger transport to compete with the Boeing 767, the A330 was first flown on November 2nd, 1992. It was designed as a lengthened version of the A300 and was developed in parallel with the larger, four-engined A340, enabling many of the components to be shared between the three types. The A330 also uses the same fly-by-wire technology that was introduced with the A320, featuring a glass cockpit and side-stick controllers.
