Airbus A330-343, entered service with Virgin Atlantic Airways as G-VWAG. The aircraft joined Virgin Atlantic's widebody fleet and operates long haul services from the United Kingdom to destinations across North America and the Caribbean. Configured with Upper Class, Premium, and Economy seating, the A330-300 provides a versatile combination of passenger capacity, range, and cargo capability. Powered by two Rolls-Royce Trent 700 engines, G-VWAG has supported services from both London Heathrow and Manchester, including routes to major destinations such as Orlando and Atlanta. The aircraft remains an active member of Virgin Atlantic's long haul fleet.
Designed as a wide-bodied, long-haul passenger transport to compete with the Boeing 767, the A330 was first flown on November 2nd, 1992. It was designed as a lengthened version of the A300 and was developed in parallel with the larger, four-engined A340, enabling many of the components to be shared between the three types. The A330 also uses the same fly-by-wire technology that was introduced with the A320, featuring a glass cockpit and side-stick controllers.
