Boeing 727-227, construction number 20706, was delivered to Braniff International as N401BN in 1973 during the airline's distinctive color branding era. The aircraft operated a wide range of domestic and Latin American routes from Braniff's Dallas hubs, supporting the carrier's growing network through the 1970s. N401BN remained in service until Braniff's collapse in 1982, after which it was sold to new operators and continued flying in passenger service for several years. As it aged, the jet transitioned to secondary roles before eventually being withdrawn and parted out. It remains a notable example of Braniff's stylish and innovative fleet.
