Douglas DC-8-62, serial number 46074, entered service with Braniff International Airways as N1806. The aircraft joined Braniff's long haul fleet and operated international routes linking the United States with South America, Europe, and Hawaii. The stretched DC-8-62 offered increased passenger capacity and exceptional range for intercontinental operations. Powered by Pratt & Whitney JT3D turbofan engines, N1806 supported Braniff's rapid international expansion during the late 1960s and 1970s.
