Boeing 727-227, serial number 21288, entered service with Braniff International Airways as N402BN. The aircraft joined Braniff's fleet during the airline's rapid expansion across the United States, Latin America, and the Caribbean. Configured with first class and economy seating, the 727-200 provided increased passenger capacity and improved range compared with earlier variants. Powered by three Pratt & Whitney JT8D engines, the aircraft offered dependable performance and operational flexibility on medium haul routes. N402BN supported Braniff's colorful and innovative operations throughout the 1970s before the airline ceased operations in 1982.
