Boeing 727-227, serial number 21289, entered service with Braniff International Airways as N403BN. The aircraft joined Braniff's expanding fleet during the early 1970s and operated domestic and international routes throughout the United States, Latin America, and the Caribbean. Configured with first class and economy seating, the 727-200 provided increased passenger capacity and improved operating economics compared with earlier variants. Powered by three Pratt & Whitney JT8D engines, the aircraft offered reliable performance and excellent flexibility on medium haul routes. N403BN supported Braniff's colorful and innovative operations during the airline's most successful years prior to its closure in 1982.
