Powered by four Bristol Proteus turboprops, giving it the name 'The Whispering Giant', G-ANBA was the first production Bristol Britannia, built at Filton as construction number 12902. It first flew on 5th September 1954 and was delivered to British Overseas Airways Corporation (BOAC) on 22nd August 1957. BOAC went on to take delivery of fifteen Britannia Series 102s, which were the world's first long range turbo-prop airliners put into regular service. G-ANBA was leased to Nigeria Airways between 1959-60, then to Malayan Airways between 1961-62, being withdrawn from use on 17th January 1962. After three years' storage at Cambridge it was sold to Britannia Airways at Luton on 25th March 1965 and continued to give good service until being retired on 20th November 1969.

Corgi's 1:144 scale Bristol Britannia is constructed almost entirely of solid diecast metal with only the smallest amount of plastic, a quality common to most of Corgi's 1:144 series aircraft. The large rudder and top portion of model's fuselage are cast as one solid piece, and pad-printed windows and doors provide a seamless touch that does not interrupt the lines of the aircraft. The solid diecast metal wing features large engine nacelles and thinly stamped propellers. Wheels-down configuration of the model is easy with landing gear that installs quickly, and air stairs are included for enhanced ground display (on some releases; see photos).

The Corgi "Aviation Archive" range presents highly-detailed, ready-made diecast models of military and civilian aircraft.
