Built at Belfast, CF-CZA was the first of six Britannias ordered by Canadian Pacific Airlines, which first flew on January 11, 1958 and was handed over to the airline in April, named "Empress of Buenos Aires", later being renamed "Empress of Hong Kong". CF-CZA was not only the first Britannia to enter service with CPA, but also the last when it undertook the final Canadian Pacific Britannia service on January 3, 1966.
Designed to meet a BOAC requirement for a medium-range civil transport, the 175 was first flown on August 16th, 1952. © Copyright 2003-2025 The Flying Mule, Inc.
Corgi's 1:144 scale Bristol Britannia is constructed almost entirely of solid diecast metal with only the smallest amount of plastic, a quality common to most of Corgi's 1:144 series aircraft. The large rudder and top portion of model's fuselage are cast as one solid piece, and pad-printed windows and doors provide a seamless touch that does not interrupt the lines of the aircraft. The solid diecast metal wing features large engine nacelles and thinly stamped propellers. Wheels-down configuration of the model is easy with landing gear that installs quickly, and air stairs are included for enhanced ground display (on some releases; see photos).
