Two generations of Top Gun pilots combine in this exciting double die-cast model pack! In the mid-80s, LT Pete "Maverick" Mitchell and LTJG Nick "Goose" Bradshaw are an unstoppable team flying their F-14A Tomcat, landing a slot at the prestigious United States Navy Fighter Weapons School more popularly known as Top Gun. Over thirty years later, Gooses son LT Bradley "Rooster" Bradshaw follows in his fathers footsteps after graduating from Top Gun, while flying his own F/A-18E Super Hornet.

Grumman F-14A Tomcat

Designed to carry the formidable long range AIM-54 Phoenix missile, the Grumman F-14 Tomcat was first flown on December 21st, 1970. Made famous by the Hollywood film Top Gun, the F-14 replaced the F-4 Phantom II as the US Navy's primary maritime air superiority fighter. Its design includes a variable geometry wing that can sweep back for high speed supersonic intercepts and forward for improved positioning in air to air dogfights. Nicknamed "Bombcat," the F-14 spent much of its late career in an air-to-ground role, carrying the Low Altitude Navigation and Targeting Infrared for Night (LANTIRN) system.

McDonnell Douglas F/A-18E Super Hornet

Designed as a replacement for the A-4 Skyhawk and the A-7 Corsair II and as a complement to the F-14 Tomcat, the F/A-18 first flew on November 18, 1978. Perhaps best known as the aircraft of the US Navy's Blue Angels, this carrier-capable, supersonic, all-weather fighter has many roles, including fighter escort, fleet air defense and close air support. The F/A-18 is a versatile aircraft: it can operate from carriers or land bases and a single switch converts it from fighter to strike mode. During Operation Desert Storm, the F/A-18 proved that, on a single mission, one aircraft could serve as both fighter and a bomber.
