The Humvee is intended for use on all types of roads, in all weather conditions and are particularly effective in the most difficult terrain. The Humvee can be configured to become a troop carrier, armament carrier, TOW missile carrier, and now Corgi brings you an ambulance.
In 1981 the US government awarded AM General the contract for 55,000 HMMWVs. This High Mobility Multipurpose Wheeled Vehicle (HMMWV or Humvee) has assumed the military role previously filled by Jeep and is produced in several configurations: command and control systems, field ambulance, ammunition and troop and general cargo transport. Optional equipment includes a winch and supplemental armor. Variant armament carriers provide mounting and firing capabilities for heavy machine guns.
