Boeing 767-200 operated by Air Canada as C-FVNM. The early 767-200 played an important role in Air Canada's transition to fuel-efficient twin-engine widebodies during the 1980s, initially serving major domestic and transcontinental routes before the longer-range 767-200ER and 767-300ER expanded the type's international role. Powered by two high-bypass turbofan engines, the 767 offered considerably lower operating costs than the three- and four-engine widebodies it supplemented. C-FVNM represents the first generation of 767s that established what became a remarkably long relationship between Air Canada and Boeing's twin-engine widebody family.

Boeing 767-200

Designed as a wide-bodied, twin-engined airliner to fill the niche between the narrow-bodied 707 and wide-bodied 747, the 767 was first flown on September 26th, 1981. Developed in tandem with the narrow-bodied 757 twinjet, both aircraft share a common digital cockpit layout and are operated by a two man flight crew. Thanks to a proven reliability track-record, the 767 is approved for extended twin engine operations (ETOPS) making it a popular choice for airlines flying transatlantic routes. With more than 1000 aircraft produced, the 767 is the second most prolific wide-bodied airliner after the 747.
