Developed for the company's all-new 7E7 Dreamliner passenger airplane, the colors and design are being extended to Boeing's current passenger airplanes and collateral items including models, brochures, World Wide Web sites and apparel. On an airplane's exterior, four shades of blue and two shades of white combine throughout the plane's length as a visual depiction of the horizon and sky. These colors replace the design introduced in 1981. The new colors are the fifth standard commercial airplanes color set in the company's history.
The 777-300ER (773B) series is a long range version of 777-300, and is designed as a replacement for the 747-400. This is a result of Boeing's strategy to target the 747 series as cargo freighters rather than passenger aircraft. The 777-300ER contains many modifications, including the GE90-115B engines, which are currently the world's most powerful jet engine with 115,300 lbf (513 kN) thrust. Other features include raked wingtips, a new main landing gear, extra fuel tanks, as well as strengthened fuselage, wings, empennage, nose gear, engine struts and nacelles. The range with a 365 passenger three-class configuration is 7,880 nautical miles (14,594 km). The 777-300ER programme was launched by Air France, though for political reasons, Japan Airlines was advertised as the launch customer. The first flight of the 777-300ER was February 24, 2003.
Designed as a wide-bodied, twin-engined airliner to compete with the Airbus A330/A340 and the McDonnell Douglas MD-11, the 777 was first flown on June 12th, 1994. A pair of the world's largest diameter turbofan engines power the aircraft which currently holds the record for world's largest twin-engined airliner. The 777 was Boeing's first fly-by-wire airliner, featuring complete glass cockpit displays and flight envelope protection. Standard varients have a range of 4,200 nautical miles while Extended Range (ER) variants can fly for 6,600 nautical miles and the Longer Range (LR) variant is the world's longest range airliner capable of flying 7,800 nautical miles. © Copyright 2003-2026 The Flying Mule, Inc.
