New from Dragon Models is Dragon Armor's first open-top armoured vehicle, complete with fantastic interior detail. No detail in this fully finished model has been spared, and it incorporates all the intricacy of a plastic kit. Even the impressively long 88mm gun can be elevated and traversed. The model is resplendent in a three-tone camouflage scheme and the markings of PzJgAbt 525, serving in Italy in 1944.
Combining the tried and true chassis of the Pz.Kpfw. IV, and the powerful and deadly 88mm PaK43/1 L/71 gun, the "Hornisse" was a potent tank killer. The Hornisse was first fielded on the Eastern front in the summer of 1943, though it was to subsequently serve in the Italian and Northwest European theatres as well. In the hands of a well-trained gun crew this weapon had a deadly sting!
The Nashorn or, "Rhinoceros", was a tank hunter used by the Germans in WWII. The Nashorn began production in early 1943 with an 88mm anti-tank gun, the same gun used on the Tiger. It was design on a lengthened new Panzer III/IV (a mixture of the Panzer III and IV) chassis, with the gun being surrounded with an open topped superstructure. The tanks debut was made in the battle of Kursk 1943 where it met much success due to its ability to engage enemy tanks at a distance at which the allied tanks could not hit or penetrate it. © Copyright 2003-2025 The Flying Mule, Inc.
Dragon's 1:72 scale Nashhorn is constructed almost entirely from plastic, which allows for the greatest possible detail. A discrete internal weight has been added to give the model a characteristic "heft." This model has many fine details, including a large, open-top fighting compartment, which reveals details such as ammo storage boxes loaded with hand-painted shells and crew machine guns, and a masterfully recreated 88mm PaK 43 cannon that elevates and pivots, featuring a breach system with operator seat and dial hand cranks. The hull's exterior has a separately attached spare track, jack and road wheels. Maintenance hatches, leaf-spring suspension and rivets can be clearly seen on the underside.
