Dragon Models 1:72 Armor Collector Series 60115
Krupp Sd.Kfz.167 StuG IV Display Model
German Army, #122, Italy, 1944, (Mid Production)

1:72 Scale   Length   Width
Krupp Sd.Kfz.167 StuG IV   3.25"   1.75"

This pre-assembled and pre-painted model showcases a Mid-Production StuG IV from a unit serving in Italy in 1944. It features a realistic sand camouflage with green stripes and the correct Saukopfblende mantlet and a full set of side armor skirts. The StuG III was a highly successful vehicle for Germany, but when the Alkett factory was heavily bombed by Allied aircraft, production of the StuG III ground to a halt. The expedient solution was to place a StuG III superstructure, with associated 7.5cm StuK40 L/48 gun, onto a Panzer IV hull and chassis. This trial vehicle was ordered into full production on 6 December 1943.

Krupp Sd.Kfz.167 StuG IV

The StuG IV was a German assault gun used in WWII. The StuG IV was a StuG III superstructure mounted on a Panzer IV chassis and was armed with a 75mm Pak 39 L/48 as the main canon. The StuG IV was produced because of the shortage of 75 Pak 42 L/70 for the Jagdpanzer IV and because the main factory that produced StuG IIIs was bombed. The StuG IV's production began in late 1943 and served with great success alongside the StuG III.

Dragon's 1:72 scale StuG IV is constructed almost entirely from plastic, which allows for the greatest possible detail. This model is finely crafted, with two periscopes rising from the gunner's sight and from a small fixed-open top hatch on the commander's hatch. There is a separately-applied 7.62mm machine gun above the loader's hatch, and separately-attached spare track and road wheels. The sides of the hull feature battlefield equipment and tools, and there is an elevating 75mm cannon with a delicate muzzle break. Maintenance hatches, leaf-spring suspension and rivets can be clearly seen on the underside.

The Dragon Models "1:72 Dragon Armor Collector Series" range presents highly-detailed, ready-made plastic models of military vehicles. Dragon Armor tanks require no glueing or painting. Color, camouflage and unit markings are carefully researched for Maximum authenticity, marking the difference between and authentic scale model tank and a "toy" tank.
