Dragon Models 1:35 Armor 61036
Henschel Sd.Kfz.181 Tiger Display Model
German Army sPzAbt 301, #213, Köln, Germany, 1945, w/5 Figures

1:35 Scale   Length   Width
Henschel Sd.Kfz.181 Tiger   7.25"   4"

It took 300,000 man hours to produce just one Tiger I tank (approximately double that required for a Panther), but what a tank it was! Its two principal strengths were its main gun – an 8.8cm KwK 36 L/56 – and its armor of rolled homogenous nickel-steel plate. Responding to popular demand, Dragon Armor has announced another spectacular fully built-up Tiger I tank in 1/35 scale. This new arrival is a Late Production variant, meaning it has characteristic features like steel road wheels and a monocular sight in the mantlet to the right of the gun barrel. This amazing model shows tank number 213 of Pz.Abt.301.

This tank unit supported Heeres Gruppe B in the Ardennes offensive in late 1944, where it paid a heavy toll in vehicles destroyed. Numerous Tigers were lost in the fighting in late December through to early January, before the remainder withdrew to refit in the Köln area of Germany. The unit remained on the Western Front until the war ended. This large-scale model from Dragon Armor sports a distinctive "stripy" three-color camouflage scheme. It has also received a light layer of weathering - this is especially obvious in places like the spare track links hung on the turret sides, as well as the metallic-looking track runs. This scale model is made to the highest standards of accuracy and craftsmanship, completely ready to defend its territory as Allied units threaten the Fatherland.

Henschel Sd.Kfz.181 Tiger

Production of the Tiger began in August 1942, and by August 1944 1,355 of these tanks had been built. The 88mm main gun was the most powerful anti-tank gun in use by any army. The superior mobility of Allied tanks allowed them to attack from behind or from the side in the hope of taking a Tiger down. The influence of Tiger tanks on allied morale grew to almost mythical proportions, and was known as "Tigerphobia." Tigers destroyed tremendous amounts of enemy equipment and often just the sight of a Tiger would induce the Russian tankers to withdraw.

Dragon's 1:35 scale Tiger I tanks are constructed almost entirely of diecast plastic, which allows for the greatest possible level of detail. Each release spotlights an early, mid or late production version with subtle changes such as replacement of the commander's cupola and replacement of the rubber rimmed road wheels with steel wheels. Intricately detailed air intake filters are included for tropical/desert theater releases. This mold features a rotating turret with an elevating spring-loaded recoiling cannon and a moveable forward machine gun. Opening hatches and detailed hull accessories add the finishing touches to a stunningly accurate model.
