The Argentine Navy (Armada de la Republica Argentina or ARA) is one of the three branches of the Armed Forces of the Argentine Republic, together with the Army and the Air Force. It purchased eight Grumman G-20s (the export version of the Grumman JF-2) in 1937 and four new-build Grumman G-15s (equivalent to J2F-4s) in 1939. Between 1946 and 1947, it acquired 32 ex-US Navy J2F-4, J2F-5 and J2F-6 Ducks , with the last examples remaining in use until 1958. Comandante Espora Air Naval Base was constructed in 1939 and is the main base of Argentine Naval Aviation.
