Concorde 216 was the last Concorde to be built and first flew on 20 April 1979. It was painted white and was registered as G-BFKX. Both it and the second last example (214, G-BFKW) were built with no customer order. It had been hoped that either Singapore Airlines or British Caledonian would purchase them, but this did not happen. In June 1980 it was finally sold to British Airways and re-registered as G-BOAF. On January 1st, 1983, G-BOAF made the fastest Trans-Atlantic crossing by a commercial aircraft on a flight from New York to London. The total flying time was 2 hours, 56 minutes and 35 seconds. It held the record for five years, when another Concorde shaved one minute and 20 seconds off the time. It made Concorde's final ever flight on Wednesday, November 26th, 2003. Departing from Heathrow at 11:30 GMT, it made a last, brief, supersonic flight, carrying 100 BA staff, over the Bay of Biscay before landing at Filton, soon after 13:00 GMT. It was met by Prince Andrew, who formally accepted its handover. It has flown a total of 18,257 hours. This aircraft was open for public viewing at the Concorde at Filton facility. The aircraft will be the main exhibit of the proposed Aerospace Bristol museum.

BAe/Aerospatiale Concorde

Designed as a part of a collaborative effort by Britain and France to create a supersonic airliner, the Concorde was first flown on March 2nd, 1969.
