Boeing 727-227, construction number 20845, was delivered to Braniff International as N460BN in 1974 during the airline's distinctive colorful branding era. The aircraft flew domestic and Latin American routes from Braniff's Dallas and Houston hubs, helping expand the airline's network throughout the 1970s. N460BN carried Braniff's iconic livery, reflecting the carrier's bold marketing and visual identity. Following Braniff's collapse in 1982, the aircraft was sold to other operators and continued service for several years. Eventually retired and parted out, N460BN remains a notable example of Braniff's 727 fleet and the airline's innovative approach to commercial aviation.
Designed as a smaller, short/medium-ranged complement to the 707, the 727 was first flown on February 9th, 1963. © Copyright 2003-2025 The Flying Mule, Inc.
Gemini's 1:200 scale Boeing 727 series airliners are constructed almost entirely of solid diecast and ready for display right out of the box. The fuselage features a solid all around seamless construction with pad-printed windows and doors, fine photo-etched antennas and glimmering jewel-cut anti-collision lens on top and bottom. Additional features include solid metal wings with finely scaled flap fairings at the rear, simulated heating elements on the wings, fin and stabilators and a separately applied nose wheel landing light lens. The series covers the original 727-100 and the 727-200 variant with its notably larger stretched fuselage.
