Boeing 777-9, serial number 69699, entered service with Ethiopian Airlines as ET-BBX. The aircraft joined Ethiopian Airlines' next generation long haul fleet and operates intercontinental routes from Addis Ababa to destinations across Europe, Asia, North America, and Africa. Configured with business class suites and economy seating, the 777-9 provides enhanced passenger comfort, advanced inflight entertainment, and increased capacity. Powered by General Electric GE9X engines, the aircraft offers exceptional fuel efficiency, extended range, and reduced operating costs. ET-BBX represents Ethiopian Airlines' continued investment in modern widebody aircraft supporting its expanding global network. Designed as a wide-bodied, twin-engined airliner to compete with the Airbus A330/A340 and the McDonnell Douglas MD-11, the 777 was first flown on June 12th, 1994. A pair of the world's largest diameter turbofan engines power the aircraft which currently holds the record for world's largest twin-engined airliner. The 777 was Boeing's first fly-by-wire airliner, featuring complete glass cockpit displays and flight envelope protection.
