Boeing 747-100, serial number 21759, was delivered to Iran Air as EP-IAM on 2 August 1979, shortly after the Iranian Revolution. Powered by four Pratt and Whitney JT9D-3A engines, it became the airline's flagship long-haul aircraft, connecting Tehran with Europe, Asia, and North America. EP-IAM was notable as the last Boeing 747-100 in commercial passenger service worldwide. After nearly 35 years of operation, it was retired on 8 January 2014 following a short ferry flight from Mehrabad Airport to Imam Khomeini Airport. Its retirement marked the end of an era for the original "Jumbo Jet" in revenue service.

Gemini's 1:200 scale Boeing 747 is an exceptionally large and heavy model in this scale (over two pounds) and is constructed almost entirely of solid diecast metal. The extra wide-body fuselage, with its wonderfully sculpted nose section, features all around seamless construction with pad-printed windows and doors. The model is supported on an all metal fixed landing gear with soft rubber tires and a steerable nose wheel. The solid metal wings are constructed as a single unit, and then carefully fitted to the fuselage. They feature accurately replicated flap track fairings at the rear and free spinning highly detailed fan blades inside each engine nacelles.
