Boeing 737 MAX 8, registered N8719Q, flies for Southwest Airlines wearing the Liberty One special livery, a flag-themed scheme created for the 250th anniversary of the United States in 2026. It is one of several Southwest aircraft honoring the semiquincentennial, alongside Independence One and Freedom One. Southwest was launch customer for the 737 MAX 8 in 2011 and is the type's largest operator. N8719Q works the airline's domestic point-to-point network, and the Liberty One scheme continues Southwest's long habit of marking national and state occasions with special paint. The Boeing 737 MAX is an American narrow-body aircraft series being developed by Boeing Commercial Airplanes as the fourth generation of the Boeing 737, succeeding the Boeing 737 Next Generation. The first flight was on January 29, 2016. The 737 MAX is based on earlier 737 designs but re-engined with more efficient CFM International LEAP-1B along with aerodynamic improvements, most notably split-tip winglets, and airframe modifications.
