Boeing C-17A Globemaster III, serial number F-1228, entered service with the United Arab Emirates Air Force as 1228. The aircraft operates as part of the UAE's strategic airlift fleet supporting military logistics, humanitarian missions, and rapid deployment operations worldwide. Designed for heavy transport duties, the C-17A can carry troops, vehicles, helicopters, and oversized cargo while operating from short or austere runways. Powered by four Pratt and Whitney F117 turbofan engines, the aircraft provides exceptional payload capability and long range performance. Serial 1228 supports the UAE's growing global transport and relief mission capabilities. Designed by McDonnell Douglas as a military transport aircraft, the C-17 Globemaster III was first flown on September 15, 1991. This enormous aircraft is used for strategic airlift of cargo and troops, and is capable of rapidly deploying and sustaining combat troops in potential battle areas. Among its many additional uses are medical evacuation, airdrop and tactical airlift. Powered by four reversible turbofan engines, the C-17 requires a crew of just three (a pilot, copilot and loadmaster).
